Hola bookstagrammers! How about a book that terrifically portrays the future of mankind in the hands of the state and no freedom?
The protagonist Winston works in the Records department as a writer who corrects any errors in the newspapers, rewrites events as the party wants him to and destroy and evidence. He meets Julia, who works in another building and they hit off immediately. They share similar ideals against the party and indulge in restricted activities. Will they be able to rebel against the party? Would Big Brother find them and erase them from existence?
” WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH”
-— George Orwell
The author has penned a powerful novel that portrays the harsh realities of a totalitarian regime, where everything belongs to the state and no one is free. It was saddening to read the cruelties injected by the powerful, stripping them of a normal life and instigating them towards loyalty to the Big Brother!
I loved that the author has included a vocabulary at the end which explains certain terms used constantly in the book. These words are in Newspeak language, the official language of Oceania.
You will accept it, welcome it, become part of it!
