The Fun Quotient
Q.1 Tell us a little about yourself that not many of us know.
A. I am trilingual and dyslexic. This makes for some challenging days!
Q.2 If not an author, what would you have been?
A. An English Professor.
Q.3 How many books are actually in your bookshelf/shelves right
now?
A. On my bookshelf right now I have under 100 books. I keep only my favorites (books that changed my life) and ones I have yet to read.
Q.4 What is your favorite genre, book, and author?
A. My favorite genre is definitely fantasy, but I love contemporary fiction as well. Picking a favorite book would be impossible! My favorite authors are Deborah Harkness, Alexander De Witte, Neil Gaiman, Nikita Gill.
Q.5 What do you do to unwind and relax?
A. I take a bath or listen to Jazz.
The Author phase
Q.6 How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have
currently?
A. At the moment, two. My third collection of poetry is set to release in January of 2021, and my second full-length novel in May of 2021.
Q.7 Describe the journey of writing your book(s).
A. Usually it’s just one character that comes to me, I get an image of how they look physically and their voice, and I can build the story around that. I usually outline the major plot points to ensure that everything is flowing correctly.
Q.8 How did you select the names of your characters in your
book?
A. I have a master list of names I like. I update it and edit it every now and then.
Q.9 What is that one piece of advice do you wish you’d had when
you first started writing?
A. Not to be so hard on me. I have a tendency to be a perfectionist and this inhibits my writing.
Q.10 What advice do you have for the upcoming budding
writers?
A. Your voice deserves to be heard… but for the love of God please hire a proofreader.
Q.11 What do your fans mean to you?
A. They mean everything to me! It always warms my heart to see fan art, or to collaborate in projects that feature my work. It makes my heart very warm and I am eternally grateful.
Q.12 How many books have you written and which is your
favorite? Did you face any difficulties while penning down your
book?
A. I have written one full-length novel and I currently have two (almost three) collections of poetry. Yes, plenty of difficulties, but with a good support team, I was able to push through all of them.
Q.13 Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with
negative feedback?
A. I have sworn myself off of reading reviews. I don’t handle negative feedback very well, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just knowing that their opinion doesn’t change the quality or the message behind my writing helps a whole lot.
Q. 14 Where do you hope to take your writing in the future?
A. I hope to be able to write full time, and run my shop full time.
Q. 15 Where do you get your ideas to write mythology and
retelling tales?
A. I’ve always loved Greek mythology. It’s something I have always researched, and resonated with. As with anything, I hope to put my own twist on things.
Q. 16 What, according to you, is the most unethical practice in
the publishing industry?
A. When authors are forced to change their vision. Or when authors are basically ignored and not valued for the grit it takes to publish something.
Q. 17 Tell us your hobbies other than reading.
A. I enjoy sewing, singing, and watching Hulu/Netflix.
