 Alex, a single parent with tow charming kids, Josh and Kristen owns a grocery store in Southport. He’s coming to terms with his wife’s sudden death and trying to move on. That’s when Katie walks into his shop and he’s smitten by her the very first time they meet. Then there’s Kevin, Katie’s husband, who’s a good detective but a bad husband. Will Katie be able to leave behind her brutal past and start afresh? What happens to Alex when he decides to accept Katie into his life? Can Kevin ever find out where Katie went?

 The bestselling author of “The Notebook” has penned yet another beautiful yet moving love story with ample amount of violence that’s not for weak-hearted readers. I sympathized with Katie’s character, and realized that there are many Katies in real life too! Kudos to the author for portraying every character’s emotions and feelings in  perfect dosage whie transitioning between their lives at different places and situations.

This book is a bit depressing, so I recommend this book to those who can read about domestic violence and not be affected by it in real life!
