AND PREVENT BLOCKING OF YOUR REVIEWS

Heya peeps! Hope everyone is safe and sound! So recently, I’ve coming across many instances of Amazon reviews getting deleted, not being posted as they do not adhere to guidelines and even some Amazon accounts getting banned. I myself have experienced a few of the above I thought, why not lemme post a few useful, tried and tested tips for my fellow #bookstagrammers so that we can try to counterattack Amazon’s reviewing policies (chuckles)
As bookstagrammers, writers, readers and authors, we all know Amazon reviews play a pivotal role in getting the book across varied readers! And when Amazon decides to play with our reviews and choice of words, we are at a complete loss! Our reviews are getting deleted solely because we fail to follow their guidelines. I feel Amazon has some very strict and weird guidelines when it comes to reviewing. I’ll quote my own example here — I recently reviewed a Poetry book, which had poems based on wine. I wrote a short review and had unintentionally mentioned the word “wine” in one place. Immediately, I got back an email saying my review cannot be posted since it violated their guidelines 🤦♀️. I was utterly shocked and took time to understand my mistake here. I removed the word “wine” and reposted it. Voila! My review went live. Though wine had no real connection to the book, Amazon’s bot thought I was marketing some wine product 😉
Anyways, since we cannot do anything regarding the guidelines, let’s look at and keep in mind the above tips which may help us maintain our Amazon account and thereby prevent the deletion of reviews. I sincerely hope the below tips are helpful to everyone and lemme know more such tips in comments guys 🙂
Read Amazon’s terms and conditions
Ensure to go through Amazon’s guidelines for reviewing before posting your reviews, thus saving your reviews from getting deleted.
Avoid using gift cards to purchase
Gift cards are representative of being gifted by someone and Amazon does not accept reviews in exchange for monetary reward. Instead, purchase using UPI, cards or cash.
Write short reviews of 3-4 lines.
Avoid mentioning the book’s blurb. Keep the review short, simple and personal, something on the lines of I felt….., I liked…!
Review like a regular customer
Do not mention bloggers, bookstagrammers or any term signalling you’re doing this professionally!
Don’t review on the last date
Avoid uploading reviews on deadline or peak dates i.e 2-4 days before deadline. Multiple people will upload at a time and Amazon considers this as suspicious behaviour.
Space out your reviews
Review other products too on Amazon. Ensure to avoid posting reviews frequently.
Remove Amazon trackers from review links
To do this, remove the part of your review URL that follows the question mark and then share your review link. Amazon can track your shared links and mark them as malpractice.
Share review screenshots instead of links
Sometimes, even after removing trackers, links can be tracked. Instead, resort to sharing screenshots of your live reviews.
If you find these tips useful, do save them and feel free to share it too with due credits given!
