⚠️TW: Rape, molestation, sexual abuse
Hola bookstagrammers! How about a book that talks about various issues plaguing our society?
This is the story of Armaan and Ananya, our two misfit protagonists. Aryan always seemed to be in a world of his own. No one, even his family failed to understand him and he was deemed crazy. He couldn’t differentiate between reality and dreams and his memory lapses aren’t helping either. Ananya, on the other hand, ‘was’ a popular girl in school. Then, something happened and she became aloof and befriended Armaan. They seemed to resemble a tragic couple!
Armaan gets hold of Ananya’s session tapes while cleaning his father’s psychiatry clinic. He realises that Ananya is his father’s patient and gets to know her haunting secrets. He vows to find out the real culprit behind her drudgery and seek justice. Will Armaan ever find the culprit? Who is the real Ananya? Where do the tapes disappear?
The author has brilliantly narrated a dark, psychology thriller interspersed with ample twists while highlighting rape, societal taunts and mental health issues. I was left wondering about so many plaguing issues in our society and what we are doing about the same. This book made me think a lot, digest so much and let go of many inhibitions. The writing is so profound that you can imagine both the protagonists’ pain and I was devastated by the ending!
“She was beyond repair, and I was tired of holding myself together!”
This book is a STRICT NO for those with a weak heart, undergoing any mental health issues or might feel depressed after reading it. For those who love books that make us think and linger in our minds, then this one is for you all!
