️Hola bookstagrammers! How about a story of an Indian detective who tries to solve his first case?
️
The story is narrated by the protagonist Mr. Ghanshyam Shasthri, a novice detective. Ever since, he started reading detective novels as a kid, his sole aim was to become one. As soon as he grew up and declared that he was going to become a private detective, his family had apprehensions. But two years passed by and he was yet to get his first case! Even with his life at stake, he calmly waits for a chance to prove himself.

Vikram Patel, son of a famous jeweler in Ahmedabad shoots himself on Diwali night, just a month before his wedding. As usual, the police close his case as suicide due to a suicide note found in his person. Vikram’s fiance, Rajni smells a rat and hires Ghanshyam to investigate who or what abetted his suicide. Will Ghanshyam be able to solve the case and get his first break? Can the reason behind the suicide be known despite the suicide note?
️ We rarely come across Indian detective stories and this is a well-written one by the author. Detective Byomkesh Bakshi’s character kept coming to my mind as I read this story. The author has given ample scope to every character, maintained the suspense till the end and has weaved good twists in the tale. Different angles have been discovered in the case and the author aptly investigates each scenario without too much build-up and little humour in between.

The prologue and epilogue are written as if told by Ghanashyam himself and that’s a unique idea! I would recommend this book to everyone who loves a good detective story without too many distractions and that which sticks to the story with ample twists!
